RESEARCH TEAM FOR ANTI-DISCRIMINATION POLICY IN THE MEDIA
The Research Team for Anti-Discrimination Policy in the Media carries out comprehensive activities aimed at strengthening anti-discrimination policy in the media and in education. We initiate the creation of partnership-based cooperation networks bringing together representatives of various academic disciplines working to promote equality and social diversity. We also establish cooperation with Polish and international non-governmental organisations and foundations in order to enrich and publicise the discussion on discrimination and ways of overcoming it.
The team’s activities include the following areas:
1. Research and academic activity
Monitoring public and private media, as well as educational institutions, in terms of activities aimed at preventing stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination, and violence, and promoting equality and diversity.
Reporting on and diagnosing risks and opportunities related to the impact of media and education on functioning in local and global socio-cultural contexts.
Developing new solutions that strengthen anti-discrimination policy in the media and in education, including through reliable media education.
Critical analysis of media and educational messages.
2. Promoting high ethical standards in the media sector and in education
Organising regular academic conferences devoted to media and equality education, providing a space for dialogue between representatives of academia, government institutions, private organisations, and non-governmental organisations.
Initiating, supporting, and conducting educational activities aimed at promoting the ideas of equality, diversity, freedom, and civic cooperation. Initiating publications that support training in the field of anti-discrimination media education.
Reflecting on the pedagogical function of the media and the possibility of using them to promote equality and counteract stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination, and violence.
We are open to cooperation and the exchange of experience in the above-mentioned areas.
