Centre for Media Research Mission statement
The Centre for Media Research conducts interdisciplinary research studies on both traditional and new media. It provides a platform for meetings and communication between researchers and practitioners in the area of social action and research.
The Centre connects domestic and foreign academics on issues related to film and media studies, sociology, philosophy and the psychology of the media as well as journalism and press studies.
The research, academic and training conferences, publishing and counseling in the field of media addiction also serve the local community in which the Centre for Media Research operates. The philosophy of action adopted is consistent with the idea behind the Open University, namely to actively cooperate with the external environment with an awareness of its cultural role.
These activities are intended to support the development of the Centre’s cooperation with educational, media and social institutions so that it responds, on a regular basis, to their needs related to the acquisition of new knowledge, the idea of lifelong learning and the continuous development of skills among the employees of these institutions.
The Centre for Media Research confirms to the model of a learning organization that flexibly responds to social needs in the field of media knowledge, raising the competence of its staff and using the skills of external entities cooperating with the Centre.
