Mission
The Methodological Forum of Young Media Researchers at the Media Research Center is committed to fostering the advancement, exchange, and dissemination of innovative research techniques, strategies, and methodologies for the study of media—including analog and digital, stationary and mobile, networked and social media. Additionally, the Forum explores technological infrastructures, institutional frameworks, and socio-political, artistic, aesthetic, and creative practices related to media. By nature, the Forum is inter-institutional, international, interdisciplinary, cross-sectoral, and intergenerational, promoting a diverse and inclusive research environment.
Aligned with this interdisciplinary approach, media are conceptualized not only as messages, cultural texts, and communicative forms but also as strategies, rituals, and scenarios of media use and production. Furthermore, the Forum examines media as technologies and techniques, embedded within technological and institutional infrastructures that are essential for their operation and evolution.
The Forum serves as a platform for academic integration and research collaboration, advancing new methodologies across disciplines such as social communication and media studies, art studies, cultural and religious studies, and related fields. It provides emerging scholars—both undergraduate and doctoral candidates—with opportunities to present their research methodologies, engage in intellectual dialogue, and establish collaborative networks with researchers conducting related studies at both national and international levels.
Scope of Activities
The Forum’s initiatives encompass a broad range of academic and professional development activities, including:
- Organizing academic conferences and scholarly symposia,
- Hosting specialized training conferences,
- Promoting and disseminating methodological publications in media research,
- Showcasing research findings and methodological innovations within and beyond academia,
- Facilitating the exchange of best practices for effectively communicating research methodologies and results in both academic and non-academic contexts,
- Creating networking opportunities for early-career researchers to connect with experienced media scholars,
- Encouraging socially responsible research practices, particularly in relation to science-economy, science-business, science-culture, and science-art collaborations.
Through these activities, the Methodological Forum of Young Media Researchers aspires to serve as an incubator for methodological innovation and scholarly excellence in media research. By fostering interdisciplinary dialogue, empirical rigor, and methodological advancements, the Forum contributes to the development of media studies as a discipline, while enhancing research integration and academic collaboration on a global scale.
